High School Students
High School Courses
HCA is not here to police what curriculum you use to educate your children, but we do have some requirements for your child to be issued a diploma.
To graduate, a student must have the minimum of 21 credits and be 16 years old. Please click on the buttons above to see what is required.
If you have questions about what should/will count as a credit for your child, please contact your District Coordinator.
Counting Elective Credits
In general, once you have completed a whole course, you have earned a credit. One exception to this is Driver's Education. This course may only be counted as a .5 credit.
If you have signed for an outside class (Co-op, for example), and you only complete half of the class, you have only earned .5 credit. For example, if you were to sign up for the Arts & Crafts class offered at our Co-op, but only complete one semester, you will have only earned .5 credit. You must complete both semesters, (or the whole course) to earn a full credit.
Submitting Grades & Attendance
Each year students are required to submit a final grade and attendance report to HCA. Grades K-8 have their own page, but high school students must fill out a transcript. This has to be typed. You may find a fillable form at the top right of this page to download. It is already set up for you to type in your student's information. This may be saved to your computer each year so that you will only have to type each year out once.
If you have problems filling out your form, or just need some help, contact your District Coordinator, we will be happy to help you. Please do not wait until the absolute last minute, as we will be busy with other end-of-year issues and may not be able to quickly get back to you. We encourage you to start filling out the form as the year moves along, that way you will know what you might need help with.
